The patient is 3.5 years old.
Tooth 8.5: caries on several surfaces at once — mesial, occlusal, buccal, and lingual.
A filling here would have meant a large restoration. Under chewing load there was still a high risk of fracture and further breakdown.
So a more predictable plan was chosen: treat the tooth and then cover it with a crown.
Treated under sedation:
• 8.5 — caries plus a crown
• 8.4 — caries treatment
⏱ Total time, including induction and recovery from sedation: 40 minutes.
The crown was not chosen because a filling would have been difficult.
It was chosen as a restoration that can keep the tooth and stand up to load after treatment.
